Switching banks can feel like uncharted terrain — but you’re not alone. Capra will guide you from the first step to the final summit with a clear, confident path forward.

We’ve mapped out the steps to help
you leave your old bank behind:

To open your new Capra Bank account, you’ll need a few essentials—just like preparing for any great adventure.

What to Bring:

  • A government-issued photo ID
    (including IDs for spouses or dependents on your account)
  • Social Security Number (including SSNs for any joint account holders)
  • Your email address
  • A phone number where you can be reached
  • Your current home address

Make the switch smooth by organizing your automatic transactions and direct deposits.

What to collect:

  • Your last 2–3 months of bank statements
  • A list of quarterly, annual, or irregular ACH payments

Update incoming deposits:

  • Complete and submit new direct deposit forms to your employer
  • Notify HR or payroll, as needed
  • Update any additional sources of income

Be sure to include:

  • Employer paychecks and any other recurring income
  • Social Security or government benefits
  • Investment or retirement distributions

Review and update recurring payments:

  • Mortgage or rent
  • Utilities (electric, gas, and water)
  • Phone, internet, or cable
  • Insurance premiums
  • Credit card payments
  • Auto, student, or personal loans
  • Streaming services
  • Gym memberships or club dues
  • Any other automatic drafts

How to update each one:

  • Log in to each provider’s site
  • Enter your new Capra Bank routing and account numbers
  • Update any stored debit card details, if applicable
  • Confirm that each change has been processed

During the transition:

  • Keep enough funds in your old account to cover pending payments
  • Monitor for missed drafts or deposits
  • Ensure all updates are successful before fully switching over

Finalize the move:

  • Cancel any old bill pay services
  • Close your old bank account (after 1–2 months of monitoring)
  • Destroy any old checks and debit cards
